Neighbors Can

We believe that residents are uniquely positioned to identify their own needs, create a vision for community life, and mobilize their skills and resources to address local issues. Through Neighbors Can, Citizens Committee's community organizing program, is inviting residents to participate in a process, which Citizens Committee facilitates, to develop a blueprint for the community's future.

Citizens Committee contributes seed money, traning, support, and expertise to implement and attract additional resources to sustain the community's vision.  To accomplish this, Citizens Committee’s community and youth organizers work with residents for at least two years in three highly stressed neighborhoods in New York City to create a coalition of grassroots leaders.

Since 2007, we have been working to organize coalitions in Crown Heights, Brooklyn; Park Hill, Staten Island; and The Rockaways, Queens.
